perl and unicode files-chinese and spanish

Hi,
I'm trying to create utf8 text/html files on a server. Sometimes I get a text file with the correct characters, but they come out as weird symbols on the webpage they're loaded into. Similar files saved in utf8 on my computer do not have the same problem. How can I get Perl to create in utf8?
Also, I must use files containing a number of alternate scripts, notably in Spanish and Chinese.
Would appreciate some help with this as documentations is scarce.

some tips there, just change your headers, there is a possibility you may need to look into adding mime types to your servers configuration
