Pegasus email Error

I have a client that runs Pegasus email on their netware system. I have never dealt with pegasus before and prefer not to. They are having a slight administrative issue that I can only assume has nothing to do with Netware except that it happens to be running on it. If anyone knows what might be causing this, I appreciate it. (Note the users below are existing users, not new) It seems to be tied somehow to NDS and the user object, but i don't know how or why.

Quote from administrator follows..

When attempting to fix my mailbox the Pegasus config tool gives this response to me:

Creating mailbox for user 'GUSER.CONTAINER'
* Mailbox directory already exists
* Granted [C] rights to '[Root]'
- Error 4 defining 'Home directory' ACL (ACL probably already exists)
- Error 4 defining 'Full name' ACL (ACL probably already exists).
- User's PMXF.INI file exists - updating rights.
* Added [RF] rights for [Root] to PMXF.INI.
* Changed user rights for PMXF.INI to [RF].
OK - mailbox is ready for use.

When testing it with a working mailbox I get this:

Creating mailbox for user 'Gary.Container'
* Mailbox directory created
* Granted [C] rights to '[Root]'
* Added [Read] ACL on 'Home directory' for '[Root]'
* Added [Read] ACL on 'Full name' for '[Root]'
* Added [RF] rights for [Root] to PMXF.INI.
* Changed user rights for PMXF.INI to [RF].
OK - mailbox is ready for use.

Is the problem that the user can't access his mailbox? What version of NetWare? A couple of things off the top of my head:

If this is NetWare 4 or above, use DSREPAIR at the server to make sure that NDS/eDirectory is healthy.

If there is more than one server in the network, make sure they have good time sync and Ds sync between them.

Did somebody fool around with the IRF on the MAIL folder or the folder where home directories are?

Is there an anti-virus running on the server? Does the problem got away if you temporarily disable the AV?

sorry no help

let time i used pegesus was 10 years ago

I've played with pegasus on netware and you should make sure for that user object, they have a home directory defined in NDS. I beleive that is where the pegasus client stores downloaded email and etc...
