Using Outlook XP (Version 10.2627.3501 SP1) on Windows XP Professional SP2.

I have the following mail account set up
1) Microsoft Exchange Server, delivery to my exchange mail box
2) POP/SMTP, delivery to a PST file on C:

Opened up Outlook whilst using dial up connection outside corporate LAN, so don't have access to the Exchange Server mail box or an archive mail PST file on a network file share.

I could Receive POP3 mail from account 2 above for delivery on the C:\PST file. However, sometimes, especially with emails containing attachments, the mail sending is not working.
I
1) Validated that the account drop down on the email is showing the POP3/SMTP account
2) After pressing Send/Receive->MySMTPAccount, netstat /n show up a port 25 connection to the SMTP server prescribed in account 2 above.
3) I could see the Dial up networking monitor that the byte sent goes up for a minute or so

However, after 1 minute:
1) netstat /n does NOT show connection to port 25 of the SMTP server
2) DUN monitor show no increment in bytes sent.

Resending does nothing!

Btw, Outlook reports Error 0x80040109

Do you have McAfee Viruscan? I seem to recall that error number being a bug with tool and you had to get a fix from the McAfee web site.

No, I use Symantec.

However, this is what I think causes the problem.

1) The email is send to a person which I call Jo Blogg.
2) Jo has 3 different email addresses:
2.1) The Exchange Email address
2.2) SMTP email address 1
2.3) SMTP email address 2

I type in the SMTP address of 2.1 in the TO field, and for someone reason after I press send (and I open up the email in the outbox, right click the properties result in Outlook trying to lookup Active Directory, which of course won't work as I don't have access to the exchange server), but how could I stop this!?!? Worst still, the email was CCed to another person with an SMTP email address on the same exchange server as 2.1, and this person received the email 10 times (I tried to resend the email 10 times when it was seating on outbox).

This is weird!!

I have NAV and this problem has just cropped up itself. I didn't change anything in the last few days and my emails are getting through, sometimes they post twice, but I am persistently getting the 0x80040109 error. Now it doesn't always occur but one thing I did notice was that if you manually try a Send/Receive (F5) you will get an error saying "Operation Failed".
All this is more of an annoyance than anything else. I have XPSP1 and Outlook 2002 SP2.

Ideas?
