I've got a user running XP Pro, with Office XP.

In Outlook XP, if she attempts to send an email to a Distribution group she has setup in her contact folder. It sends the email but the attachment does not get sent.

Also she has had a couple of emails that when the recipient gets them, it comes out as jumbled text. This one may be the recipient, not my user.

I've attempted to set her mail to HTML instead of Outlook Rich Text (a knowledgebase article mentioned something about this). But it did not help.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I had a user with a similar problem with Outlook 2000. It turns out that Norton AntiVirus was causing the problem. If you have an antivirus program scanning Outgoing email, it will stop a lot of attachments from going through. Turn off the option for scanning outgoing email if this is the case with your user.

Also you should make certain that the contact itself is not setup to receive messages in RTF format.

Open the contact and then go to the e-mail filed. Double click the e-mail address to open the properties window and see if the option "Always send to this recipient in ..." is not checked. joegz

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Her PC does not have email scanning setup on it at the moment, we're doing our scanning at the Exchange server itself.

The odd part is as far as RTF, if she sends to them through the distribution group, the attachment doesn't send. But if she sends an email directly to one of these people (instead of the group) the email goes through with the attachment fine.

Have your user send an email with attachment to each person in the distribution list individually. Sometimes when you have one incorrectly configured contact, it will affect the whole group.

If you find one contact that does not receive the attachment, either correct the contact information, or if you can find no problems with the information delete the individual contact and re-enter as a new contact.
