I have a user who is trying to send an email containing a word doc as an attachment. She is using Outlook and is sending it to another user who is using Outlook Express. When he receives the email, he can read it but it doesn't show the attachment. If I look at the message source through the properties it shows what looks to be the code for the word doc at the end of the email. He can receive email attachments from other users using OE or Eudora without a problem.
After testing this on my own machine (sending attachments from Outlook and opening them on OE), I have the same problem when sending the message in Rich Text. Now I have found a workaround.... if I change the format of the message in Outlook and send the email as HTML or Plain text the attachment goes through fine and can be seen in OE. My question is why this would have changed? The user has never had this problem in the past and has always sent messages in Rich Text format. I did notice that there was a recent MS patch for OE...but I'm not sure if there was one for Outlook as well. OE seems to receive attachments from other programs fine...so does the problem lie in OE or in Outlook???
