Outlook printing probs

Greetings,

I am running outlook 98 and whenever i try to print via File>print>ok i get a message of "Unable to save print settings". This message also pops up is i try to change the style. If i just click on the printer icon it prints ok, not much good if i want to use a printer other than my default.

I have checked the microsoft support site and tried what they said for a similar fault but no go.

I have also deleted the .ost file.

Has anyone got any ideas??

Sure have...
I have tried uninstalling and reinstall with no joy...I am going to try uninstalling again and removing any files left over then reinstall again.

The error can be caused by one of two items or a combination of both. In Outlook 98 the print settings are contained in a file called OUTLPRNT. The location of the file is C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\xxx\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\ (or WinNT for NT workstations) where xxx equals the clients user name. If the file is not in this location Outlook will generally recreate this file when the client prints.

However what tells Outlook to look for this file is a setting in the registry. Under HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Outlook\Printing is a registry setting called PRINT SETTINGS FILE. This key contains the path that tells Windows where to find the OUTLPRNT file. The path should equal
C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\xxx\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\OutlPrnt (or WINNT if the client is on NT).

If the path is incorrect windows will keep looking for the file in the wrong location and thus produces the error message because it can't create the file. Verify and correcting the registry key should correct the error
