When I try to Open Outlook and access Exchange across our T1 lines, I keep getting a message that Outlook is synchronizing. It takes up to five minutes just to get in to Outlook. Once I am in Outlook I still get these messages when I move between screens.

Please help,

Thanks

Sorry that I don't have any easy answers for you, but I do have quite a few questions! ;-)

What version of Outlook are you using?

Can we assume that you are opening outlook on the same PC every time--or are you roaming around the office?

If you are doing it on the same PC, then does it ever stop? I mean, if you open it, it syncs. You go into a different screen, it syncs. Will it eventually stop?

Assuming that it stops, when does it start again--When you log off and back onto the system, or when you close outlook and open it again? What happens if you leave it minimized and go into it an hour later?

Does this only happen to you, or does it happen for different users also?

While I don't have anything that addresses your specific issue, you might check this out to see if it is pertinent to what you are experiencing.

Good luck, and please post back!

By the way--anybody with more of a clue here should feel free to jump in!!! Mudskipper

Thanks for the reply. The problem seems to occur when using Outlook XP with Windows XP. However when using Windows 98 and Outlook XP the speed into outlook is great. One thing that I have figured out is that if I put a hosts file on my WinXP local drive, speed into the Outlook/Exchange is great. The server name is mail and the hosts file looks like this:

10.1.1.10 mail

It appears to be a DNS issue with WinXP, but I cannot find any problems with DNS. The hosts file is a fix, however I look at it as a bandaid. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks,

Jason
