outlook 2003 doesn't shutdown properly

I have a Fujistsu p1120 LifeBook running XP and when Outlook 2003 is started it puts the icon in the task bar on the right. When outlook is closed the icon doesn't go away and the process needs to be manually stopped via the task manager.
Anybody seen or know a solution to this annoyance?

Never heard of this before.

Did you try to repair Outlook ?

Star Outlook > HELP > DETECT AND REPAIR.
