I am running Outlook 2003 on a Windows xp machine.

I have seven different e-mail addresses set up in outlook and I was testing a new account and noticed that when I send an e-mail from this accounts to the others, in two cases the "From" address shown on the received email is incorrect. It shows it as from one of the other accounts (the same one both times)!

I can't see anything wrong with the settings, but before I delete them all and re set them does anybody have any ideas?

Outlook by default sends messages using the default e-mail account. You can set the default account by going to tools, e-mail accounts. The default account is list first. Use the move up and move down buttons to change the default.

If you want to send a message from a different account, from the message, click Accounts and click the account you want to use.

Thanks, but I am doing just that!

When I have written the message I select the "accounts" button next to "send" on the tool bar and select the account I want to send from. I then get the message at the top of the email saying this message will be sent via such and such an account. However when it is received it ALWAYS shows as having come from the default account! with that accounts email address showing. When the rcipient replies, it is sent to my default account, NOT the one I sent it from. Putting a reply address Tools>email accounts>more settings option box does not help.

My friend tried this on his system, also using Outlook 2003 and got the same problem.

IS THIS A PROBLEM WITH OUTLOOK 2003?

I have searched the Microsoft knowledge base but can't find and mention of it.

I'm having the same problem and the main account is on an exchange server.
