Hi Guys,

I need your help with this. We have several workstations whose Outlook 2000 windows suddenly close by themselves after flickering a couple of times. The desktop goes crazy. There is then a window prompting for the Office 2000 Professional CD to install certain features. This happens daily on several machines ranging from Win 98 to Win 2000. Once you cancel out of the window that prompts for the CD, you can then re-open Outlook and everything is fine as normal. Any ideas? Thanks!

That depends why it blinks.
It must say so, or it happens when you perform a certain actioen, like spellcheck or so.
Run setup op Office 2000 again and make sure all needed (sub)components are NOT marked as: Run from CD, otherwise it will prompt for it every time. If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, excpect random guesses or no replies at all. Please specify details.

I know this sounds crazy...but I encountered a similar problem like this and the problem was caused by non-Win2k compatabile printer drivers.

We had migrated 130+ desktops to Windows 2000, and several times when users would try to print from Outlook, Word, and other Office apps the PCs would do some strange stuff..everything from flickering screens to completely rebooting. We completely re-created all printer drivers on the print servers ensuring that they were Win2k compliant and the problem disappeared.
