OSN set 'break-in" on ESA call

The customer has Succession 3 Option 11 using ESA for 911. They are using a 3904 set sitting right next to the 2250 as the On-Site Notification set. It has a single dn, an OSN key, and an override key. They want to be able to conference in (more like barge-in) to the 911 call once the info is displayed on the 3904. The docs say to call the dn (the one that dialed 911), when busy, press the 'ovr' override key, a warning tone and everyone is in. The problem is, like most facilities, is that the sets have a secondary dn they hunt to, are forwarded to or hunt to mail, or are just plain forwarded somewhere. That means, as the docs suggest, that when the receptionist goes to call back the originating dn, instead of getting a busy allowing you to do an override, she gets the secondary dn (and no one placing a 911 call is going to answer a sencond call), mail, or the 'forwarded to' set. I thought of an attendant 'barge-in'as the 2250 is 6 inches away from the 3904, but you need an ACOD and Member # which doesn't get displayed on the 3904. Any ideas on how to make that work?

Use Call Forward/Hunt Override.
With this the reception first dials a Flexible Feature Code followed by the DN. Then she should be able to use the regular OVR key to break in on the call.

You will probably have to program CFHO in LD 57.

Heck, if you have a 2250 and you see the DN that called 911 on the side phone, then

On the 2250

-Press an idle LPK (Loop Key)
-Press the Busy Verify key (BVR)
-Dial the DN that made the call.
-You are in the call - plus you guarantee they cannot hang up, since it is impossible for a station to "release" an Attendant from a call

You use Barge In (BIN) if you know the trunk
You use Busy Verify (BVR) if all you know is the DN

As Stanley says, you will need CFHO is you plan on using Overide (OVR). But I'd use the 2250's BVR key if it were me

There are a TON of arguments on Barge In on 911 calls.

1.) By barging in, audio in your background may disrupt the call (fire alarm, etc.)
2.) The person calling 911 may be calling about the person that is barging in

This is always controversial at best, but is actually illegal in someplaces. It sounds like a great idea at first, but there are many arguments for and against the practice. Personally, I will not implement it, and will turn down the job if a customer insists on it.

On a similar note...I worked at a Hospital and the policy, if say, and employee needed some emergency service, was to call 911. Odd as it may have seemed, there were times we had paramedics come to the hospital to offer emergency care to someone that might be less than a few hundred yards from the ER. Of course, the staff physicians might have provided care too...but we never took the chance of not calling 911.

Patients were different because they were already contracting the hospital for care.

You have to remember that 911 is not just for Medical issues. What about kidnapping, armed robery, gas leaks, etc...

Then there is the great news story from a few weeks ago where a person in a PSAP needed to dial 911! It saved their life.....

So 911 in a hospital is just as important as anywhere else.

Thanks, guys....I'm going to go poke around there today and try a few things (BVR). I think this place wants to get in the call mostly to see if they can dispatch the on-site CPR guy first and for the receptionist to let the important people know what's going on.

BVR from the 2250 was the best option. The only requirement?....sets have to have CLS=WTA for Busy Verify. It worked great. Thanks all!
