Some users, but not all, are getting an error message when opening our datbase that says "A problem occured while [database] was communicating with the OLE Server or ActiveX Control. Close the OLE Server and restart it outside of [the database] then try the original operation again in [the database]."

I do not understand this message or know what to do to fix it. Any help is appreciated.

Actually that's good news! We're already "disinfecting". Thanks for the heads up.

Usually not good news but glad to provide some. We had the same problem a couple of days ago and error cleared up after the virus was removed and the OS updated.

Actually, I have the same problem. I checked yesterday if I have the virus, and I do not. Do you have any other suggestions as to what might be causing this problem? I have had to take out all of the company logos off my reports and forms in order to get rid of this message. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Try going to windows update and install the service packs and security updates.

I did that yesterday while checking for the virus. So I have all the windows updates that are available.

This is the message that I get whe I open my database or use a report with a logo on it. The db seems to work fine, but this is annoying.

A problem occurred while Microsoft Access was communicating with the OLE server.
Try one or more of the following:
- Make sure you’re connected to the network server where the OLE server application is located.
- Close the OLE server and restart it outside of Microsoft Access. Then try the original operation again from within Microsoft Access.
- Reinstall the OLE server to ensure that it’s registered.

I don't know how to do any of the things listed by this message. Thanks for any help.
