Off site ip office user in VA to access phone in NJ

Hello again


I have a IP office 412 in NJ office we want to connect a IP 5210 from VA with no connection other than internet T1 to the NJ office, how can this be done?

Do we need other equipment there?

Don't know what a 5210 is but I will assume you mean a 5610. Bit confused by the reference to an "Internet T1 to NJ" as an Internet T1 would go to the Internet and not to another location so the easiest way to figure it out would be...if you can ping the LAN1 IP address of the 412 from the network to which the 5610 is connected then it is likely you have everything you need. If not then you will need a VPN or some other means of networking the two locations.

Sorry unit is a 5410

We are the vendor i will have the customer set up a VPN between NJ and VA then how can i connect the
IP412 (NJ) to 5410 (VA)

Current Set-up

IP412 > Hub > Router > T1 > VA > T1 > Router > Hub > 5410

im lost in the IP412 world....Give me a PC to config to VPN to VPN and i set but this VoIP is tough getting used to, bring me back to definity. hahah

Ahh no. The 5410 is a digital phone and can not be remote. You can either purchase a 2nd IP Office and VCM and network the two together or you can purchase a 5610 and VCM for the 412 (if you don't already have one) and configure it as a remote IP extension.

Well we have a VCM Card in our 412 so we would just need a 5610? and then configure it as a remote IP extension?

If you can ping the LAN1 IP address of the 412 then you are likely good. This assumes you don't have some firewall between the two that would block ports from one side to the other.
