First I would like to say thanks for your help.
I have a Norstar 0x32 with a PRI to the outside world and an analog port used as an "OPX line" that connects to an analog port on a Nortel cs1000 within the same building.
Here's the (supposed) problem reported by an end user.
He claims if a call comes in via the Norstar PRI he can successfully transfer that call to a DN on the cs1000 by pressing the transfer button on his phone and then dialing 21 to get the "OPX/ analog port" followed by the 4 digit Nortel DN.
However, he states that if he is the one that initiates the call to the outside party via the Norstar PRI he is then unable to transfer the call to the Nortel using the same procedure.
I know this sounds crazy as I would think that it would not matter how the original Norstar call was originated. If it transfers one way it should work the other way.
Has anyone ever heard of this?

he is correct, unfortunately the Norstar will not allow you to make an outbound call and then Transfer that call. You can only Transfer an inbound call, you might try conference and see if that will work.

Do you know if that piece of information is published in a manual anywhere?

I just made a call and then transferred that call to another party. The call originated from the Norstar and tied up two trunks. So I don't know why you're unable to duplicate it.

OK, I'm confused.
I'm not sure if the end user is telling me the truth as I have yet to personally test this myself however hawks says he is correct and it sounds like your saying he is wrong. Once I test, I will post my results. If hawks is correct, it would seem that info would be published somewhere.

2 digit DN's on MICS with PRI, 21 is an ext or dest code?...its all fishy lol

What release is the software?
Are you talking station or trunk analog ports?.

PS- They are both right!!
To be continued....

atdjr123 are you sure you did not use conference; the reason I ask is because I’ve tried this on multiple units and could not make it work.

The following statement is from the System Coordinator Guide

“When transferring an external call to an external number, the external call you are trying to transfer must be an incoming call on a disconnect supervised line.”

....continuation

hawks is right!

"“When transferring an external call to an external number, the external call you are trying to transfer must be an incoming call on a disconnect supervised line.”

That warning is on every manual since almost day 1.

atdjr123 is right also!

"I just made a call and then transferred that call to another party. The call originated from the Norstar and tied up two trunks.

Top secret intel - Will work on 6.1 and up no matter what the manual states.

lol

It is documented. Note step one!

Copy and pasted direct from the Feature card
Transfer
F70
Send a call to another telephone within your system, or to an external telephone.
You may not be able to transfer a call on an external line to an external telephone,
depending on the capabilities of the lines.
1. Make or answer a call.
2. Press F70
3. Call the person you want to transfer the call to.
4. Stay on the line if you wish to speak to the person first.
5. Press RLS¨to complete the transfer.
If an external call is transferred to a busy internal or network extension, or is not answered after a few rings, the call automatically rings you back.

Yes, you can make an external call, press transfer/ current call is placed on hold/ access other line and make call/ either supervise call or not/ once party answers join calls. Now I have 2 T1's programmed as loop start lines on a MICS w/ 7.0 Software. It works every time. This is not a conference call. Software might have something to do w/ it like Curly says. I have not tried it w/ anything lower.

The feature card is like a user guide.
The user guide only tells you how to do a feature.
The syscoord guide tells you more about the feature such as the do's, dont's and needs.

Marv
1. Make or answer a call.

This works if and applies to : you make a call but transfer to an internal ext on your system (#3)....it does not work when trying to transfer external on 5.0 and under such as hawks has pointed out according to the sysco guide.

You will get "denied" otherwise on the older stuff soon as you press a line or access/dest code etc.
