Norstar System - dial from computer

Hi, have to setup a computer (Mac running Daylite) to work with a Norstar system to dial out for the user.

Is there a hardware interface that works with this system to allow that via the modem or a USB port?

You can use an ATA to connect to a modem.

Thanks, I've looked at that.. but that seems that it may need it's own extension. I was hoping to find something that would use the existing phone extention. I've done some reading and it sounds like the CTA-200 might work. Does anyone have any experience with that?

If your short on ports then use a Knoexx device (third party), it uses the B channel off the telephones port.

Yes, you'll need a CTA for TAPI use.

Does anyone have experience with using a CTA200 with newer os's or Macs?

According to the guide the MAC does not appear to be supported.
perhaps because of the TAOI driver required.

I have used a Linx ATA, I think MCK made it. It was an ATA that you could put your Digital set & an Analog set on like curlycord was talking about.

Thanks guys, I have not had a chance to move forward on this project yet. The Knoexx device looks like it should work for what I want, so I have contacted them.

I have not found much real info on the MCK Link ATA device, so if anyone has more information on it, or a link to the company that would be great.

With the konexx it uses one of the button appearances of your set, by that I mean that when the conexx is dialing out you see activity on your first intercom. I think you can let your mac's modem dial out and then pick up the intercom.

So I have received my Konexx DWInt and have got it working with my Mac and with Daylite. But I am running into a problem with the headset I am using with my M7310.

If I have the handset plugged in the DWI picks up the digital line, and I can dial 9 for an outside line and dial from there. Works perfect so far.

When I plug in my headset (with or without the handset) then the DWI no longer picks up the digital line. If I manually "pickup the line" on my M7310 using the HF Mute button (with my headset connected) - The DWI will then pass the dial commands through.

Konexx is closed today, so I thought i would see if any guru's on here have any ideas.

What I am thinking now .. is there a command I can send to force the DWI to pick up the line.

Maybe program Auto Handsfree in Capabilities and to grab a line prime the set to Pool A (or other) under Sets/LineAccess

Ok, I was able to get into the admin for the phone - using **config and then the pw

Then went to: Terminals&Set>Show Set: (My Ext#)>capabilities>Handfree:Auto (which is what it was set too). I tires it in Std too, still did not work right with my headset.

Not sure where to look for the lines thing, but I'm guessing that may not help as I don't even seem to be "picking up" the receiver right now.

Try another phone or headset or another headset manufacturer.

I noticed that the headset causes some interference with the normal operation of the 7310, nothing bad I just learned to live with it. try a 7316 instead.
