I cannot get the "Add New Fonts" option to appear under "file" in the fonts folder.
I found a solution to this at windows.com. however it does not work. I am running win 98 on an HP 6545c. In a nut shell, the solution was to extract the fonttext.dll file from the cab files on the original 98 disk, and re-install the file. However, the "system files checker" cannot locate the cab files on the HP recovery disk. They are apparently in a file named "CAB.pak" on the recovery disk, but it will not recognize it as such.
I tried to do this from an old 95 upgrade disk, and it found and installed the files, however it did no good.
I have also tried doing this from the command prompt using the "ext" command, but had the exact same results. I am at a loss here. Can someone please help me out while I still have some hair left.
PS. I have also re-installed, at least attempted to re-enstall the desktop.ini file. Still a no-go.
