I have configured a Merlin Legend 7.0 with DID's and co trunks [main numbers]. I set it up so that the co trunks ring on the operator console only, and the DID's are ringing on the proper extensions.

I want to set up the night service so that when the operator is away, the co trunks will ring all phones. That is happening, but now the DID's are also ringing on all phones when night service is turned on.

What am I doing wrong?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

Is this coverage for during the day or is it really night service?

If it's daytime coverage, create caller group ex.772, 773, etc. and have group 1 or something beside VM group cover console during the day. Don't make Operator ext. night service ext.

Also, she/he can't have VM and AA at the same time.

The night service coverage is for when ever the receptionist is away from her desk [breaks, and when she leaves at the end of the day]. There's no AA or Voicemail for the receptionist. We want all calls to the co trunks to be answered by her, or if she's away from her desk to ring on all phones.

Here's how I set it up...

NIGHT SERVICE INFORMATION

OPERATOR 6100 DGCG #:
STNS : 6100 2131 2132 2133 2134 2135 2136 2137
2138 2139 2140 2141 2142 2143 2144 2145
2146 2147 2148 2149 2150 2151 2152 2153
2154 2155 2157 2158 2159 2160 2161 2162
2163 2164 2165 2166 2167 2168 2169 2170
2171 2172 2173 2174 2175 2176 2177 7148
7149 7150 7151 7152 7153 7154 7155
LINES : 801 802 803 804 805 806 807 808
809 810 811 812

It is working. All calls to 801 - 812 are ringing all phones, but now the calls to the DID extensions are also ringing all phones when the night service is turned on. Do you know what I need to do diffently so that the DID's will only ring on their extension while still covering the calls to the 12 co lines?

Thanks,
Jeff

That is KNOWN an issue with the LEGEND R7.0.

Night service causes D-I-D's to ring everywhere also.

I do not know if it is fixed in any later resases (MAGIX) or not.

I would take the D-I-D folkss out of the NIGHT SERVICE GROUP and set up a Night Bell or two to let them hear this.

-OR- Instead of a Night Bell, DO a LOOP AROUND of a T&R Extension (set to be a member of night service) to a line port and put that on every bodys phone.

Thanks merlinman...I thought I was going crazy.

I'm thinking of setting up a calling group and assigning the night service to it. Is there a way to set up the calling group so that the calls will bounce to different extensions if unanswered? It seems like when the calls go to the calling group, they just ring forever on the extension that happens to get the call.

Thanks,
Jeff

As I stated before:

"DO a LOOP AROUND of a T&R Extension (set to be a member of night service) to a line port and put that on every bodys phone."

A cheap and dirty fix if you have spare T&R Extensions and Line Ports......
