The ethernet connection to my modem died abruptly at 6:41pm last night. The rest of the system was working fine at this point. I use the onboard lan on ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe. I can't ping anything (destination unreachable), Device Manager says this device is working correctly. Tried system restore - no luck. Thinking initially it was a Windows problem I tried everything I know, ip /release /renew, Winsock Fix, sfc /scannow etc.
Looking in the Event viewer I see the following Error Message at the same time:
The IP address lease for 192.168.0.2 for the network card with network address
blah) has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.0.1 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message)
Tried uninstalling, reinstalling network drivers, controllers etc - no go.
Then did a repair reinstallation, got through setup but system in a rebooting loop after that.
Disabled Onboard LAN in BIOS, performed another repair reinstallation, system in reboot loop afterwards in same manner.
I am writing this now using Knoppix, there is no problem with the onboard lan at all.
I just can't get xp to boot, tried safe mode and it freezes on loading a particular file acp347.sys I think - I can't check without losing all my settings in Knoppix.
Please help, this is very important. Thank you.
