Hi Guys,

I have a customer I inherirted many moons ago. They have a old copper MICS with a old copper nam. Last month it appears some one hacked there system and made several thousand dollars in calls thru there lines.

I had the lines restrcit long distance temperarily thru the phone company.

I have not had one of these issues in a long time. Can any one start me on what to set up to help insure this does not happen again.

Thanks Ahead of time.

Sincerely, thephoneboy

Change all passwords on all mailboxes to as many digits as possible.

Do not use passwords like 111111 or 1234 or the ext # etc.

Delete all mailboxes that do not look like they are used or look suspicious.

Deny Off prem notify on all mailboxes via F983.

Restrict voice mail ports from Long Distance.

Get rid of any unsed Pools or Routes.

Apply the L.D. software Patch to the NAM

Login to F915 and go to modem/outbound transfer and deny it.

the mailboxes that I have seen hacked were the general delivery and the 221 mailbox. I think since they are the most common for being a "community mailbox" with a simple password.

also set outdial to none on each mailbox
disable outbound transfer in the COS and if it is needed create a COS just for that user.
