I have an employee with some special needs including hearing impairment. I purchased a Fanstel ST50 set with Amplified speaker phone and caller ID and message waiting.

Copied a 500 set (fax or modem?) to build a TN for this phone. Included MWA, LPA, and CNIA in the CLS, but I'm still not lighting the message waiting lamp or having caller ID show.

Don't have a lot of 500-set experience, so I'm hoping I'm missing something really easy. Should point out that this is probably more a consumer type phone set as opposed to a business set, if that makes any difference (hoping not).

Environment: CS1000E, 6.0

External trunks are PRI so we have caller ID phone number (not name) that shows on our digital phones. Internal caller ID shows 4-digit extensions and names on our digital phones.

X4170 is the Call Pilot DN.

Here's the TN in question:

Any suggestions? Also, anyone know what FTR PHD is/does?

Got to have a CLASS Modem card installed for CLID over analog TNs. PHD is permanent hold.

It is unlikely you have the CLASS card, so you won't get Caller ID on that analog set. I'd be going with a digital phone. you can get an amplified handset with that and you can see things like "Line 2 is ringing"

As for the Message Lamp on an analog phone, the line card needs to be an Analog Message Waiting card (NT8D09) You can find out what card it is remotely:

>LD 32
.IDC 196 0 5

I think all our analog cards are Msg Waiting. Card 196 0 5 is NT8D0AL (an oldy but a goody?).

User needs an amplified speaker phone. The speaker phone on an M3902 wasn't loud enough for her. I saw amplifiers for handsets, but figured I needed a special phone to get a louder speaker phone.

Wait, your card number is missing a digit :)

NT8DO9AL is Message Lamp OK
NT8D03AL is Message Lamp no worky

In that case, I'd try another phone with a traditional neon message lamp to see if you can get the lamp to light. The Fanstel phone might not use 90V message voltage.
