I moved my ACT 9.01 database now I can't open it. I remember this was a big no-no with 8.0.

I moved the entire folder to another location.
We are ACT! 9.01 with hotfix on a VistaHome box.

Actually Microsoft SQL Server should have stopped you doing that unless you stopped the service... it's not ACT! that has a problem with moving the folder, it's SQL
Is the folder still on the same drive/machine?

Yes. I can see the database and the PAD file.
Also, I have to open ACT! with a right click on the icon and open as Admin. That's not related but it may be an issue.

The Admin thing is a Vista thing...
Did you just copy the database or the entire database folder and all folders below it?

I drag/drop the entire folder to the new location.

Try deleting the PAD file and telling ACT! to open the ADF file.

Deleted PAD and tried to open ADF.
First message is: "ACT! will now verify the database."
Next message is: "Database Landlord already exists. Choose a different name".
I tried to copy the file and give it a new name but it wants an ALF file to match.

Open ACT! Diag (Start | Run | ACTDIAG)
Select the Databases area in the left hand panel
Right click on the database and detach it from SQL
Then, make sure the database isn't still in the original location and try again to open the ADF file
DO NOT just try and copy SQL files. Microsoft SQL keeps them open even when ACT! is not running. You need to stop SQL or detach the database before moving it. But better next time to just Save Copy As (under the File menu in ACT!)

Never mind, I added Run to my start menu. However, Start Run ACTDIAG = "Windows cannot find ACTDIAG".
So, I did search, found it and run.
