Hello,
after defining some new UNIX-Clients on our NetWorker Environment and backing up these systems, I noticed that the Index of the Savesets is still written to the old Client Indexfolder.
That means, the Index of the Savesets for the new Clients shows "0 records requiring 0 KB".

Attention: these Savesets were backed up until now as part of another Client Definition (which is still active).
I have to keep this "old" Client Definition because some other Savesets have still to be backed up by this Client.

The new Client Definitions are part of a Clusterenvironment and are bound to Virtual IP-Adresses/Resourcegroups in the Cluster. These Savesets/Filesystems are Part of the Resourcegroups must be backed up dependent of their location.

The question is, if I can somehow split or move only a part of the Index to the new Client.
So that in the future the Backup/Recover processes access the Index thru the new Client name, and no more thru the old one, like it does now.

Please feel free to ask for more information. Perhaps the story above is a littebit comlplicated.

Thanks for any answer.
Regards, Martin

No. You may move an index to another location but not to another client.

Hello Instructor, thank you for your answer.
well, if I can't move the index (means the Saveset) from the "old" Client to the new one, how can I backup these Savesets thru the new Client Definition?

Let me try to explain it better:

Like it was before:
Client "A" backups savesets "/one", "/two", "/three", "/four".

The actual situation:
Client "A" backups savesets "/one", "/two".
Client "B" backups savesets "/three", "/four".
("A" and "B" are on the identical physical machine, but are other definitions of virtual Cluster Recources).

Now, when I backup or recover Data from the Savesets "/three" and "/four", the Index is always used from Client "A".

Do I have to remove the Definitions from NetWorker completely for Client "A" before I can define the new Client "B" with the Savesets "/three" and "/four"?

Thanks and regards
Martin

You can actually do this by filling the proper index using an option to the save command (-c client_name). You will find more details in the manpages.

Try and then add the command as backup command to a client resource.

Hello 605, thank you!
The "save -c <client_name> in the Client-Definition is the solution. (yes: RTFM)

I made this entry, started a new full-backup of this Clients Savesets and the new Index was created and could be browsed.

Thanks and regards
Martin
