Modular Messaging Still Active?

Hello,

Just wondering if Avaya still actively sells Modular Messaging? Just trying to figure out the most popular voicemail platform when using Aura...? Is Aura Messaging still popular??

Modular Messaging went EOS back in 2014.

Aura Messaging has EOS announced for June 2020.

Aura messaging is being replaced with officelinx. Avaya rebranded it with “IX messaging.” Windows based and if you want to integrate with exchange you have to purchase the mainstream licensing. The same goes for if you integrate with the basic “avaya store” but want email of the voicemail. You will need mainstream.

Yep but to be fair avaya’s voicemail platform has always been shit.

Really? You mean you never liked Intuity Audix or Merlin Legend MerMail? I always thought they were good voicemail systems myself.

I think my favourite voicemail (unified messaging) system was/is Cisco's Unity. Granted it was Active Voice's Repartee at one time - it's an unbeatable voicemail/UM system. The system is clean and organized and the prompts are nice (I believe she used to be named "Sandy Simmons" either in real life or just jokingly). Just a rock-solid VM/UMS. I wish it were easy to buy a SIP-based (FXO or FXS, I don't care) Cisco Unity for other systems like Avaya or Mitel.

What I mean is avaya slaps things together without testing or putting thought into making it an enterprise grade system. For instance, aura messaging was not designed with redundancy in mind. Yes, the sip trunk may be redundant but the storage server isn’t and it pretty much runs the entire system.

I don't see why you couldn't put Unity on CM

As far as redundant storage servers, Mutare's done it for years if you really want a second MSS at another data center. It would still require downtime repointing the app servers at the other data center to the backup MSS.

I really don't see the drawback. MM didn't officially support MASs in different locations than the MSS - AAM does. Everything's VMware now anyway, with a basic SAN your failure surface isn't any one single server or drive.

What voicemails in your experience are able to do geo HA backend? It can't be easy. Certainly my experiences with Voicemail Pro on primary/secondary IPO servers had its share of hiccups.

Officelinx and XM Connect Unified Messaging are two products that support natively true redundancy. Then you look at the utter mess avaya has done with the Aura 8 platform plus all the bugs with the J series phones. Hell even breeze doesn’t support windows based ftp backups and it’s going to be years before they do support it (if ever at all). My point is avaya is not an innovator.
