I am using Exchange 2000 server on my network and currently have around 6 people connecting via Microsoft Outlook 2000.

The network is due to grow quite rapidly soon to 30+ users and i have been asked to look at alternative methods of connecting to Exchange 2000 due to licensing costs. I have tried to Connect via Outlook Express and i am able to recieve emails with no porblems but sending them is a different ball game. If anybody knows how to configure both the client and the server for outlook express compatibility or knows of an article explaining exactly that then i would greatly appreciate there help.

Thanks in advance

Steve

You need to configure OE to use what ever server is setup as your SMTP server. Since OE does not communicate using the RPC protocol it does not work the same as Outlook would for sending mail in an Exchange environment. joegz

Alterantively, and neater with OE is to connect as IMAP, in that case, you do not have the SMTP issues.
