If anyone is interested I got to confirm today via actually doing it finally that the new client32 CAL works just fine on windows 7 (was a 64 bit prof). Just remember to add a registry entry so you can see your mouse in ops if it isn't a touchscreen.
It should work. I will test it with our res 4 lab, but I see no reason it won't work. The system I installed it on is so old that a few of their workstations are Eclipse. You may have to update the installation package in the servers CAL folder. Like I said, when I get into the office I'll try it on one of our RES4 lab boxes.
There is no reason that it wont work on windows 7 but its not officially supported on Win7 as far as i know.
So if you run into any issues you might find that they refuse to support you.

Well, I didn't feel like installing Micros on my laptop (the only windows 7 computer I have that isn't a lab for something), so I hooked my RES 4 box up to one of my wifi routers, and CALed my Windows 8 tablet off of it. I would say that if that works then windows 7 will too. I'm not sure whether you'll have to update the install package on the server; I didn't have to, but who knows? You know how these things are.. do something exactly the same way 20 times and it will only work 19 of those times.. with a 'who knows?' for that one odd ball =D
