Hello,

Currently I have a WS5A terminal + MICROS POS SERVER Version 5.6.1.3 (Micros POS 3700) under VM Microsoft Windows 10 Pro and everything works well.

I would like to purchase and have a second WS5A terminal (Windows CE 6.00) in stock so that I can replace it in case of failure myself.

Can you give me the detailed procedure on how to replace and set up a new WS5A terminal with my current system please ?

In case of failure, replacement is very easy if you already have another WS on hand. And it's the same step if you need to add a second one.

  1. First, connect the new WS to the same network segment (where your Windows 10 Pro VM is connected and We'll call this the micros server.).
  2. Have the Micros CAL (Client Application Loader) on hand or pre-installed. If you don't have it, you may find the installer in C:\Bin\McrsCAL1** on your current computer or server.
  3. Once installed, you must run McrsCal, which you should see in the list of programs or specifically in C:\Program Files (x86)\MICROS\McrsCAL.
  4. vncviewer_rvOGSA9R3L.png Select the SERVERNAME of the micros server, basically the name of the computer and its IP. Click Next.
  5. vncviewer_9YfyHYv7ac.png Select the device you want to configure. In your case, it would be the only configured Windows Server. Click Next and let the process run until it completes. This will activate the device.
  6. mstsc_6FrkKXAO3c.png Upon completion, you'll be asked for your Client Trust Passphrase to synchronize with the server. You can change this beforehand in the Database Manager on the Micros server if you don't know it. Alternatively, you can activate Discovery Mode when the POS application (RES OPS) is loading.

I hope this mini manual is useful to you and if you have any questions, let me know.
