I'm looking for suggestions/ideas/solutions for tracking tipouts from servers to other employees on Micros 3700. We get a fair bit of complaining from servers about having their total Tips Paid used for payroll when they've tipped out a percentage to support staff.

I've heard that Aloha has a feature where a server is prompted to choose from a list of employees and can select each in turn and enter the amount of the tipout. Presumably there is a backend report that shows all of this when it comes time for payroll, but I'm not sure of the details.

I'm heading down the road of creating an ISL script and fussing with the db, but thought I'd see if any of the experts here had anything to add.

Thanks!

How about a pickup tender called Tipout that requires a reference? You can add it to employee tracking and just modify your employee & payroll reports. Instead of reporting on Tips Paid you'll report on Tips Paid - Tipout. You can add a tipout % formula to keep them honest, and make a transaction based report showing each server's sales, tip total and tipout w/reference. Your support staff can declare them as indirect tips in Micros if you want and if you add the Tipout to your system tracking it'll be pretty easy to compare Tipout to indirect tips.

Good suggestion...that might just work. I'd like the tipout recipient record to be structured, so I suppose I could prompt the servers with a list of valid bussers from SIM and inject the choice into the reference.

Thanks for the pointer.
