Hi,

Just wondered if anyone has any ideas, all of our workstations are currently up and running, but just one of them has decided to quit POS Ops and is stuck with the loading screen stating 'Initializing Database Connection'...

I have tried rebooting the WS4LX, no joy...

I have re-run CAL on the workstation, it has reconfigured, rebooted and still sticks at the same point...

Have never had this issue before, the WS has been running fine all day, so not sure what could of upset it this evening?

Cheers,
Jon

Check if you have an old MDSHosts file in the CAL folder. If you do, delete it. If you don't, delete the MDSHost file in the Commond directy, reload DB, and take the new MDSHost file that it creates and put that in the CAL folder. Restart the workstation. It sounds like a connection issue; sometimes the MDSHost file will get out of sync on a single workstation and it can't find things. Beyond that, I don't know what it might be without checking things. Have you verified that it has a connection? You can ping the workstation from the server?

Thank you for the advice [wink]

I have copied the MDSHOSTS file from a working WS into the ETC folder on the CF card of the problematic WS, reloaded POS Ops, but still no joy.

I know there is a network connection as I am currently connected to the WS via VNC from the server and able to fully control it.

I'm not sure what else to try tonight apart from wiping the CF card and re-runing the CAL when I get on site tomorrow...

Managed to fix it...

I had to wipe the compact flash card, re-run the cal and then all worked fine...

Strange issue.... but thought I would post the solution that worked for me just incase anyone else experiences it.
