Logmein has saved my bacon more time than I can count... certainly beats using firewall protected plus password protected RDP and VNC access!
Once you get past the sharp intake of breadth when you tell your local Micros agent you are installing a remote access product ("ohh, PCI compliance, Oh, oh, oh") they usually go very quiet when they realize logmein has better security than their remote access product, you need to decide which logmein product to install on the remote Micros 3700 BOH unit
LogmeIn comes in a number of versions... then it becomes complicated(!)
On the remote unit:
- Logmen Free - no charge - create an account at their website, run the installer on the Micros 3700 unit, and if necessary allow outbound to LogmeIn through any firewall you have in place (I use this

)
- LogmeIn Pro - exactly the same as Logmein Free but you have access to files on the Micros 3700 unit, a local printer and sound - so you could remotely run reports manually and have them coming out locally (To be honest I prefer to push files out of Micros 3700 onto another PC into a dropbox folder and let them replicate to the cloud).
They then have a number of clients
- the regular web ones - active x for windoze and a browser plug in for Mac and java for everything else where the clients aren't installed (I use all of these)
- ignition - runs on ipads - remotely control your logmein boxes - feels a bit weird at first, but it works (I use this too)
They have a management system called Logmein central - if you have more than 10 remote logmein units they push you to this. Frankly it really gets its benefit controlling lots of LogmeIn pro remote unit, but I've grown to really like it (yes I use this)
Ask away if you have specific questions, I've probably fallen over them and gained bruises
