Hi I'm planning to send an email to about a hundred of people. I am using outlook XP. I want the emails to go out individually to the people i.e. one email per recipient rather than sending an email to a group where all the recipients can see the names of the other recipients. I am planning to create an Excel file with 2 fields: one for the email address and another for the firstname and insert the appropriate data in the fields. I would then create an email template in Outlook where I would insert a field for the name in the message body. Outlook would then send the emails using the email addresses and insert the name corresponding to the email address in the email content from the excel file.

Is this possible? If not is there an alternate solution?

Thanks!

Use the BCC field to enter the addressees, no-one will see anyones address. That allows you to send 1 mail only.

Alternatively, you will need to use mailmerge. If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, excpect random guesses or no replies at all. Please specify details.

I agree with marcs41. So people aren't suspicious of the e-mails origin, you could put your own email address in the "TO" box and Bcc everyone else.

Thanx,

1. I don't want to use the "Blind Carbon Copy' option since the recipient won't be able to see his own email address specified in the message.

2. Since I want the emails to be personalized i.e the message body should contain the name of the individual, this is not a solution.

Regards

1: I don't know if you always look at your own address? I generally don't receive mail if it is not my address???

2: In that case you will need to resort to a mail-merge. If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, excpect random guesses or no replies at all. Please specify details.
