Hi All

My voicemail pro server is not sending message via MAPI.

It's Outlook 2003 on Win XP. I have tried all the variations I can think of in the MAPI settings in voicemail pro, but no joy. I've tried no username or password, username only, username and password.

I've saved and restated the service after each change.

1) Is there a way to test a MAPI config to see if it is returning error messages?

2) For a basic setup (sending as the default, logged in user) is there anything else I should try?

Can you send mails from outlook on the VM machine???

Outlook 2003 stops external programs from sending emails without user intervention. Is it bringing up a box to warn that a program is tring to send an email????

Can you use SMTP????

What logon account is the voicemail service running as? (Does it have a MAPI mailbox associated with it)

Hve you set the correct name in the control panel settings

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

Hi Jamie

I can send via Outlook fine, and I'm not getting any warning messages at all - just no email!

I did have it on SMTP before, but I need to send a message as an attachment to an external address.

Ahhh - interesting.

the VM Pros service is running as the fully qualified domain\user.

Outlook is running as the current user - they are the same user name, but I wonder if they are conflicting?

Would it work better as a local system account? And how would this work in the event of power loss and the machine rebooting?

That is the correct configuration.

What about the the settings in control panel?

Yup, control panel shows just one profile, with the same name as the user ('voicemail'), set as default.

Is there any debug information available from VM Pro that would show the error being raised?

DO you have exchange??

Yes - outlook is using an exchange account, also called 'voicemail'. It can send and receive messages directly from outlook.

I would try using SMTP it's easier.

Set the VM to SMTP then setup the server name in the VM Pro in Control Panel.

Set up the email address in the user name and set to Forwardor copy then give it a go.

I've gone back to SMTP - i've got another query no, but I'll raise it separetly

I think you need to go to Mr IPO's website.

There is a document on there that will get this working.
