I've searched the FAQ's, but was unable to find anything that answers this question, so I hope someone here can help.

I have a database that is opened by any number of users at any one time, but probably not more than 5-8. The problem is that some of these people tend to stay logged in the database after they have left for the evening, and if I want to update forms or tables, I can't because they lock their terminals.

Is it possible to have the database shut down, either after a certain period of inactivity, or even just after a set amount of time?

I'm not all that familiar with VB, but I can handle the basics.

Try

The idle time is set to 15 seconds. Open the database, wait for 15 seconds and the shut-down form will pop up.

Then read the txt file for more information.

It's in Access 97, but you can import the objects into Access2K or XP with no problem.

I don't recommend converting the database, but that's your choice.

Thanks guys,
I downloaded and installed the form, and it all works well until I try to create a MDE file for my database. I get and error message that says something like " Error in hidden module in Frmmainmenu".
My Main Menu form opens on startup, so I inserted the code to open frminactiveshutdown in the OnOpen event of this form.
So in effect, I can't have a MDE, would this be right?
