Light flashes when unplugged?

Have a client with an old Meridian (NT5B20) system.
The system seems dead except that when you unplug it, the light flashes 3 times.
To me, this seems to be an error code.

Is this the processor saying "Bury me, I'm dead?.

Any help would be appreciated.

On newer Nortel card models, three flashes is an indication of a successful boot up. But that is when you insert a card and it powers on from the backplane. We are talking Option switches here.

Are there any UPS systems in line iwth the power? What does it do when you power it ON?

The client called - the system is down.

I come out, (new client) and test the power, plugging it directly into the UPS (not the power strip off the UPS and the system powers up fine and all works well.

Later that day, (6 hours) the client calls and says the system is dead again.

I go out the next morning, and the system appears dead when the unit is plugged in. No display on any extensions, nothing.

I just noticed that when I unplug the unit, the power light flashes 3 times. This happened more than once (I did it 3 times)

This is an old system (warranty up in 1990 says the sticker) with DR4 software.

I moved the software card to the new system and all works fine.

My question is - Does anyone know what the 3 flashes means? Does it mean anything?

Thanks
