i want to send a simple condensed print command thru a dos batch file to my hp laserjet 1200 printer. In the past I have always used Esc&k2S to set my hp Laserjet 6P to condensed. Also i used the same pcl command on an earlier hp 1200. Just hooked up a new hp 1200 and now it won't go condensed. I tried sending Esc(s16H but that doesn't work. What am i doing wrong?

Certainly Esc(s16H should change things if you are using a fixed pitch font.
For a sanity check, enter <esc>(s0p16.67h0s0b4099T and see if that does anything for you.
The pitch command is probably ignored if the current font is set to proportional, and that might be your problem.
