IPO R8.1 9508 Phones

I am having lots of problems with 9508 telephones. Mostly with the speakerphones getting static, etc.

I have now had these problem multiple times across multiple systems spread out across the state. These systems are not connected or related in any way.

Changing the phone fixes it for some reason. But then the problem will re-appear at the same station on the new phone later.

This seems like a software bug to me. I know there were issues in previous releases but I thought they resolved them with 8.1

Any one else have any similar issues with digital sets? Any thoughts on a fix?

Go in the menu of the phone, there you can adjust some settings on handsfree.
I think it's in the advanced menu.

Funny. I just had a conversation with someone here who said to go into

Advanced Settings
Audio
Speaker AGC - change to off and Save

Any other changes you recommend?

8.1.52 had new firmware.
Are you running this release already?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

No. 43. I am going to apply it this weekend (unless someone warns me against it.)

I hate being the early adopter.

There is another option different from AGCi n the menu to tweak the speaker, can't remember it by name.
Did you turn off AGC settings on both phone for speaker/handset/headset?

No I just turned it off on the Speaker. Should I turn AGC off on all 3?

Outside of the 3 AGC settings the other options in that menu are:

Speaker Open: Standard, More, or Less (Currently Standard)
Headset Xmit NR ON/Off (currently ON)
Headset RCV Loud ON/OFF (currently OFF)
Headset CC ON/OFF (currently ON)
Handset Xmit NR ON/OFF (currently ON)
Remote Headset ON/OFF (currently ON)
Echo Canceller ON/OFF (currently ON)

btw...when did digital phones get flakey again.

I thought we resolved digital phone issues like 20 years ago.

They went flakey again with the release of the 14xx phones :)

Try to play change the settings;
Speaker Open: Standard, More, or Less (Currently Standard)
Echo Canceller ON/OFF (currently ON)

The 14xx are far more reliable/trustworthy than the 95xx's, don't think I've had an issue with them yet, 16xx's are a bit dodgy from time to time but still not nearly as bad as the mess they made with the 96xx's (which are now much much better), things are certainly backwards at the moment :)

Did the AGC setting fix this issue? I'm having the same issues, from 8.1.43 and now on 8.1.52.

I, as a rule, turn off all AGC's and echo canceller. I have not had any 9508 speaker issues since.
