Okay, what am I doing wrong?

I have a 64MB card in a IP500 that was just recently upgraded from 4.2.14 to 5.0.15. I am unable to use Manager to upload the new H323 files to the card.

Here is what I get...
TFTP request failed - FileWrite Not Allowed

I have in the configuration of this particular IP500 the File Writer IP Address set to the IP address of the Manager PC.

This IP500 is at a remote site in a SCN if that makes any difference.

Thanks,
Dphoneguy24

The 64Mb card is for the small office.
The 406v2 and ip500 use a 256Mb card.
The SOE card has G729 as codec and the 406/500 uses G711

This is a blank 64Mb card used for file use only - not Embedded Voicemail. The card has the H323 files on it now from 4.2.14. This is used for the TFTP server for this remote site which has a handful of IP tel sets.

Oke i understand.
Do you have "phone file server type"set to embedded ?

That's the problem I imagine as you cannot write files onto the card from a remote/different subnet. But you can drag them off it's part of the design I believe, one of those really helpfull features no-one asked for :)

I believe you are right. That must be it. I can download them from the remote site card to the Manager PC at the central site, but I am unable to send the files I need from the central site to the remote card.

Bummer, I guess I will have to make the trip.

Had the same problem today, upgrade was from 4.2.4 > 5.0.8 and today the strange thing was that when I changed the file writer ip address it wouldn't take it. someone had changed it instead of leaving it on 0.0.0.0 after installing the new manager (5.0.15) it went away.

So recheck it the filewriter IP is set to 0.0.0.0

Do any of you use blank flash cards in the IP500 for the files for IP sets? I can't remember what cards the IP500 will support, but it is really hard to find a 256MB or any small card anymore. Most are 1GB and up. Quite pricey if all you need is some small storage capacity. Seems a little ridiculous if the IP500 only supports up to a 256MB card and you have to purchase a 1GB card.

If the 1GB card will work but only up to 256MB, then I guess I will have to go that route in the future.

Let me know.
Thanks,

Were using 4Gb so the not a problem.

I use 4GB cards with no issue unless they are really really cheap and nasty and then they can become corrupt :)

Just to get this straight guys...
You have used 4GB cards, but do you only get 512MB of storage on them in the IP500 / IP406v2?

No, the whole lot. Did you read the above on the file writer IP?

Yes we get the whole lot to, Bas regardless of version/address I have never got it to work frm a diffeenet subnet/remotely and I'm sure I read (on here possibly) that it's a security feature :)

Yes, read it. On my remote system when I put in the IP address of the Manager PC, it takes it. If I go back in and look at the config, it is still there.

As soon as I try to upload a file to the remote systems card and it fails, I go back into Manager and it is set back to 0.0.0.0

Missed the remotely, just tried and the does not work. I get a [Malformed Packet TFTP] in a wireshark trace. So the packet info/size is changed from side A > B

It sure is a sh&**y deal if you have a remote office quite aways away and no PC there with Manager on it.

Seems to me that this is one thing that Avaya should be fixing for sure.

You can use a isdn d channel and dial in.
If you have the dhcp set to dial in you get an ip address in the same range as that ipo is.
Then you can use the file management

tlpeter, a normal VPN you'll also get the same IP range as the IP is in. The dialup is also a VPN or did I miss something?

If you are in the same subnet you should be able to use the file management but it did not work for me too once.
