IP Phone - Monitor Tool - ReRegister Phones?? 1

I work remote. I have a customer who can't find (or unwilling to find) a 9608 telephone. They want to move that user's extension to a different IP Phone that is assigned to a different extension.

I see in Monitor->H323 Phone Status a button marked as "reregister". Will this de-register the phone and allow the user to select another extension?

Just let the user logout and log in with the new extension.
 
I need to make sure the new extension doesn't get reused at the old phone.

If you login the same extension to another phone it will take it out from the original phone. You can not register the same extension at 2 different phones.

Also, you can change the ext login password. This will take whatever phone is registered out. Then you login to the new phone.
