Hey Guys, been lurking here for a while, a lot of great info on this site.

I just got sent an extra IPO 500 v2 unit, I want to create a test environment out of it.

What are the bare bones requirements I will need? I will use 2 IP phones and would like to setup a vmpro as well. I don't think I will be using any type of 3rd party phones..

IP Endpoints
IP500 voice networking channels
power user/teleworker
Preferred edition (VMPRO)
Software upgrade
Sip trunk channels
VCM card

Is there a way to feed off the previous SIP trunk or is a new SIP line required - am I missing anything from that list?

Thanks for your help!

bare bones would be an ip500v2, a combo card, and licenses. Combo card would give you pretty much anything you need, besides a PRI. You can use the ip phones on it, but you'll need the AV endpoint licenses. SIP trunks will need sip trunk licenses, and yes, you'll need a preferred edition license. voice networking licenses are only needed if you're going to network the systems together...

Excuse my ignorance, but I would need a whole new SIP trunk installed, is that correct?

Thanks for your help.

Unless the trunk allows multiple registrations from different IP Addresses, then yes, probably. Plus, inbound would be hard to manage. You can pick up a cheap sip trunk from flowroute that work great on the IPO.

Thanks for your help and the suggestion of flowroute, much appreciated.

Sorry to be a pain, but do you have any solid suggestions for a pbx? I called flowroute and found they just offer the sip connection, but we would need a pbx. Thanks!

if you have a ipoffice then you already have a pbx so confused here.

acss sme acis sme acss cm 5.2.1 acss cm and cmm acss aura messaging.

Yeah...what smokin joe said...
The sip trunk is just a trunk for voice. Sign up for an account, they are CHEEAPP. I use them for my business. Very reliable.

We ordered the Demo kit IP500 from our supplier. It comes with ATM combo and BRI combo. we got 2 IP phones and 2 digital phones. It also has 20 licenses which should cover all testing needs. That is all the worker licenses, receptionist, SIP trunks, VMpro, IP endpoints, voice networking and the horrid CCR as well others.
If purchased as the demo kit, it is a great deal cheaper than the price of all products combined.

It is also handy for a maintenance spare

Thermus, no it is not a maintenance spare and if Avaya finds out you are using it for a customer you will have a problem!
Ofcourse a temp solution for one or two days is handy but never ever sell it :)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Sorry tlpeter.
Let me qualify that statement. The chassis is a maintenance spare. The sd card does not leave the office. We had a catastrophic earthquake 2 years ago and had no spares at all right afterwards. It was either reprogram a 406 to replace the crumpled ip500 or take out the sd card and put it into our demo ip500. And instruct the customer to restart the vmpro every 2 hours with the 406. ( they would have been happy to do this considering the situation they were in)
The only time the demo kit is at a customers office intact, is when we demo the system. It is then returned to our test bench

OK clear :)
Another test option for you is the IPO anywhere.
