This is my first IP Office V500 8.1 so bear with me. System has embedded vmail only. I cannot seem to figure out how to access the voicemail to record the AA greeting or how to record the AA greeting. I did the time profiles. I am missing a major piece of this puzzle.
Help!

*8104 is what you need
*8204 for the second AA and so on.

*8x01,02 and 03 are for morning, afternoon and evening greetings if needed.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Yes you are missing a major piece...Proper training! [bigsmile]

[kbd]F1[/kbd] is your best friend. Hit that when you are in the AA settings.

But since you probably started pulling your hair, here is some additional pointers to Peter's post:

To record a greeting, you need to dial *84xx, where xx is the AA number ID.
If you have only configured one of them, that would be *8401.
(you'll find it in Auto Attendant settings, 3rd row, "AA Number")

Make an Incoming Call Route, for one or more numbers that you want connected to the AA.
In Destination-tab you will find the AA(s) in the drop down.
Pay attention to the fallback as well, that sets the destination on timeouts.

To run the AA from the inside, you need a short code: *80XX/Auto Attendant/"AA:"N

Kind regards

Gunnar

You are right about the proper training thing! Ahh the joys of self-employment. Hate to ask such simple questions.
Do I dial these feature codes from the intercom path?
I have been able to get the AA picking up and have figured out the timing, but it's the greeting recording I am having issues with.
Also, what is the IPO terminology for an info mbox?? Do I have to associate a mbox with a phone? I would not think so. 25 year Nortel tech, gotta adjust.
Thanks!

Just dial that from one of the phones.

Info mbox? Like in information mailbox?

That could be done with:
- Another AA
- Hunt Group Voicemail or Announcement
- User's Voicemail or Announcement

(depending on what should happen after the info has been read)

Kind regards

Gunnar

Saving a greeting with a 4 instead of a 3 will loop the greeting.

*Embedded sucks* [smile]

Good to know, all of this. I will discourage embedded in the future. Gunnaro, would you mind enlightening me on this subject in 200 words or less?

200 words on why it stinks? Or 200 words on why VMPro is the way to go?

Kind regards

Gunnar

Embedded VM is good enough for 90% of our customers, even better as VM Pro as there is no additional hardware required which is a huge problem on small sites.
And VM Pro is then almost as expensive as the rest of the system.

seems one in the same to me. so both.
Do I have to put those short codes in for the system to recognize them or are they already there? If I do, where do I input those *800 codes?? Will be glad when I get this one under my belt and not feel so inept. Got some training, but it looks like it will be the School of Hard Knocks!

Short codes go in "Short Codes", right click> New>

The Code (can be numbers, * # $)
The Function (Dial, features, Voicemail, etc)
The Action (phone numbers, modules, settings)
The Line (most of the time, 0)

Here is an example of one of my short codes for an embedded voicemail sites, code *99/feature Auto Attendant/telephone number "AA:"Days"

Alright, here's 200 words.

Once upon a time, Embedded Voicemail was an add-on unit, providing 4 ports and a limited amount of storage.
Then came the SD cards along, with better storage capacity, but only 2 ports as default.
Additional 4 ports could be added, making the grand total of 6.
Apart from this, there were no new features, and so far there hasn’t been any development on the functions or features.
Backups can be done, but no easy way to check if that has been performed or not.
There's not even a decent AA timeout role for inside calls. (100)

Voicemail Pro installs on servers, PC or modules, providing up to 150 ports. Sure it’s more expensive, quality has its price.
The server will provide remote access for maintenance, backups and distribution of software.
You can design intelligent call flows, impossible to achieve otherwise, customizing the response for each individual call within the same module.
It has real IVR’s, equal to many enterprise solutions. Easy to adjust, configure or even duplicate.
Voice prompts are easily recorded or generated by Text to Speech in wave format.
A conference call can be secured with access codes or even number recognition from database integration.
It is immensely versatile. (100)

I got only 2 customers left on Embedded, no AA or voicemail configured, and never made a single conference call.
Even the smallest site of 4 extn has VM Pro, they simply love it.

Kind regards

At a price....
I fully agree on the benefits of a VM Pro but it is like the car to use:

In the center of any metropole you'd be better off with a Fiat 500 as with a Hummer, with both you finally reach your destination but the Fiat does it more efficient with less comfort.

Then I'm on the highway to Hell:)

Kind regards

Thanks for your help, so far. Need some more. First, Gunnaro--THANK YOU for the tip on the F1/Help. I spent about 5 hours reading all of the relevant sections I need to use. I learned so much! But long way to go. So these are my remaining issues for this system I have to have up and running in a couple of days. These are just digital phones, not VOIP, thank God!

1: I set up my lines in an Incoming Call Group and have them going to the AA1. I cannot find where the timing is set for the AA to pick up the lines. It is picking up too quickly, need 5 rings. I did get the greetings recorded and they are working.

2. The owner just wants the AA to give the caller 4 options, all of the options being just leaving a message in a mailbox. They feel like if they were not able to answer the calls in the first 5 rings, they don't want it ringing any sets, they just want the calls going to mailboxes. just to make it easier for you to understand, bear with me, I am going to go into some detail:
Option 1--Leave message for prescription refill mbox
Option 2--Leave message--used by doctors only
Option 3--This is an info only greeting with directions and contact info
Option 4--Leave message in general mailbox
My problem is that I cannot figure out how to have mboxes that are NOT associated with phone extensions. Also if this can be done, can I instruct the system to turn on an MWI at certain extensions? The phones in the pharmacy do not need any voicemail at all for the individual users.
I built a separate AA for REFILL, DOCTORS, DIRECTIONS, GENERAL but I think I am going down the wrong path. I think I need more of a CCR for these functions. Actually first, I just built ONE AA and set up actions to go to the voicemail of those phones, but they really don't need voicemails. What are my options? Hope this makes sense.

3. If I only need one greeting for all 24 hours, is it better not to even set up Time Profiles??

4. I read about PARTNER MODE. How would I have been able to use that?

p.s. I hate short codes. What genius engineer thought of those???
Thanks!

You need to send the callers to Hunt Groups with voicemail. Enable the users to access the Group Mail box by adding H<groupnumber> in the Source number of each user.

CCR won't give you any joy, and CCR requires VMPro to run.
If you go for the VMPro, I'll post some templates for medical installs.

Nothing wrong with short codes, you just need to get used to them...

Kind regards

Gunnar

I will work on these, thanks. Once again, where is the timing for calls to go to AA? Are you saying not to use the AAs, but hunt groups instead? I still need the incoming call group, but you are saying to send those to hunt groups instead of AA?
Also, are the Time Profiles un-necessary if there is only one greeting?

If it's never going to ring any different, skip the time profiles.

Here is the flow: ICR> AA> Hunt Groups> Voicemail

Kind regards

Gunnar
