IP Office 500 with Faxfinder. Strange fax behavior after switching from copper to fiber 2

We have an IP Office 500 system coupled with a FaxFinder 420. Worked great for years. Last month AT&T decided copper was out and fiber was in. We were switched to fiber service for our local PRI. Ever since then, all outgoing faxes work fine UNLESS you dial an 800 toll free number. Nothing was changed in the IP Office for FaxFinder system. We still receive faxes to the FaxFinder which get routed to user emails, and we send faxes from the FaxFinder software which gets routed to the FaxFinder server, then the IP office dials and connects. I think it has to do with the fax tone but I'm not sure. If I dial the 800 fax number from my IP Phone on my desk, I get a fax tone on the other end, meaning it worked. But if I dial the same 800 number from the fax software or a fax machine in the building, it doesn't work. I've gathered logs of each call and am still confused. Remember faxes work if you dial a long distance number (which goes out our long distance trunk, and is a different carrier, hmmm I may have just answered my own question). Is there something in my IP Office config I need to change?

Here's the log of a successful fax going out a non-800 number:

Notice the dialed digits are all at once. Here's a log of when I try to fax to an 800 exchange:

Notice how it is only dialing 3 digits under DIALED DIGITS and then dialing more in the trace output? I have no clue why. They are both using the same shortcode. Again I think the fax tone is throwing it off because I can dial an 800 fax number on my desk phone and it works fine. What am I missing? THANK YOU!

Wanted to add... the faxfinder log shows the correct digits being sent to the IP office, so I don't think that is the issue.

Ok so I found the issue I'm just not sure how to fix it. Now that we are on fiber, AT&T needs a legitimate DID passed to them or it drops the call. The analog lines are not sending legitimate DID's. They are adding the Analog Extension number to the end of our area code and calling code which is incorrect. For example, our Analog Extensions (an analog card in our IP Office) that are connected to our FaxFinder server are 205, 206, 207, 208. Whenever someone tries to fax from the software on their computer (which is configured with their fax number, a correct DID) it tries to send the DID of 1-555-555-1205 if it goes out the modem connected to extension 205. Also fax machines aren't passing their configured fax number to the analog lines.

So my question is now how do I configure these extensions to pass the caller ID of the fax machines, and the FaxFinder software user? (remember the faxfinder software is configured with the correct fax number of the user, it should be passing it to the analog line when it's being dialed out)

Right now my extensions are configured in Manager as a Caller Display Type of FSKD (I've tried OFF and ON also but no avail), and the equipment classification is FAX machine (it was set as STANDARD TELEPHONE before the fiber switch and has always worked this way). Is there a way to tell these analog lines in my IP Office to pass the caller ID of the user or fax machine it received instead of tagging the 3 digit Extension number to the end of our DID? I hope this makes sense. Thank you!

Create a new ARS table that sends your main number as the outgoing caller id, and a short code in the FaxFinder user to point to this new route.

The header that prints at the top of the faxes received at the other end is still created by the fax finder, so the caller id of the line sending the fax doesn't matter to the receiving fax, it only matters to the phone company.

You should create a new ARS table and route fax calls over the new table.
Within the table you can send any number you choose as the number sent.
I suppose that you would want to send a valid DID number.
You can search this site for more information on this subject.

S - Calling Number
Place any following digits into the outgoing call's calling number field. Using S does not alter any allow or withhold CLI setting associated with the call, the short code characters A or W should be used respectively.

· Outgoing CLI Warning
Changing the outgoing CLI for calls requires the line provider to support that function. You must consult with your line provider before attempting to change the outgoing CLI, failure to do so may result in loss of service. If changing the outgoing CLI is allowed, most line providers required that the outgoing CLI used matches a number valid for return calls on the same trunks. Use of any other number may cause calls to be dropped or the outgoing CLI to be replaced with a valid number.

Ok ARS table got it. We only have a single ARS table with our main codes in it (toll free, long distance, etc...).

I forgot to mention we have a HuntGroup called FaxGroup 222 that has the analog fax lines in it. The fax finder is suppose to hit that group and it sequentially grabs one of the fax extensions. I'm not sure how to tell the analog extension to dial the shortcode though to route it through to the new ARS table.

I'm searching site now. Thank you!

The hunt group you mention is for incoming calls not for outgoing calls.
For outgoing calls you need to look at the extensions used to connect to the faxfinder.
Those extensions can be used to make outgoing fax calls.
The huntgroup you mentioned should contain the extension numbers in the member list.
You can then create a user short code that then uses the new ARS you have created.
If you look at your system short codes you will see the 9N short code.
Create a user short code that is built exactly the same as the system short coded only change the line group to the new ars table.

To test before going live you can build the ars table-create a user sc and assign it to any user extension with a phone and make calls to a cell phone. You can then see what number you receive.

CarGoSki, how will the system know which short code is used for voice and which is for fax if I create an identical one but point it to the other ARS? Do I change the Feature?

VERY HELPFUL!

Oh wait do you mean create a user short code in Voicemail Pro?

You have dedicated analog extensions to connect to the fax server.
So all outgoing and incoming calls use those extensions exclusively.
For outgoing calls they originate from the fax server so they are always only fax calls.

Right, I have no doubt you are correct, I'm just wondering if I have two short codes for 9N, how does it know which one is coming from a handset, and which one is coming from the analog lines?

OH i think I see. You mean create a user short code in the ShortCodes tab under the fax user.

Ok I have my ARS table setup, now I have one last question. In my fax USER Short Codes, under Feature, can I just use DIAL? or should i use DIAL FAX? Also on the Telephone number, do I need any other characters besides the DID?

Thanks again! Almost got this knocked out!

When you create ARS tables they are given a line number with 50 being the default number.
If there are no user short codes built for 9N then when that user dials 9 + number it will use the ARS table defined in the system 9 sc. Probably 50.

A new ARS table is 51, 52 etc.
When you create a user 9N short code you assign the ARS table you to use. 51, 52 etc

User SC
9N
Dial
N
ARS table number created

ARS entry

N;
dial
Ns(telephone number to send)
Line number(use same line number as in ARS 50)

Thank you! Everything is working perfectly as expected now!

Thanks for your help. I learned a lot today!
