Our IP Office 412 base module failed, we replaced the hardware plugged in the VCM, PRI and Analog cards updated the firmware to the version the failed module was on (5.0) and reloaded our config.

Calls inbound and outbound work and route to voice mail, all ip handsets work, but the base doesn't see any of the other 6 expansion modules.

I tried to see if the firmware was mismatched, which it isn't but that also doesn't see the other modules.

Is there any sort of reset that needs done to allow the new base to see the expansion modules?

Did you start those modules before you start the ipo ?
If you first start the ipo and then the modules then they flash green and that means they are not connected.

So pull the plugs and start those modules first and then the ipo.

If you do it by a switch then the modules are up before the ipo is.

yes all expansion modules are slow blink green on the led after the boot... indicating that they are ready for the base...

then we boot the base, it sees all analog trunks (and pri) but no expansion modules.

Are you using the blue (original) cables ?

What was the original fault that prompted the replacement of the IPO?
could it have been a fault with 1 or more expansion modules?

Perhaps it was lightning?
I have checked a system today that has been hit.

Mostly a cable will be hit and leeds it to the expansion module which lead it to the ipo and most of the times it will break the expansion slots.

Yes the new IPO is updated to the latest firmware running on the manager PC... and we reloaded our old config.

The IPO was replaced because all LEDs were flickering and the boot (red/green) LED woudn't light up.

Crazy note: an Analog Trunk 16 we thought was dead 2 months ago works fine wouldn't bee seen by old base... and the new IPO base sees it.

Make the ipo default and then connect those modules.
Or first delete those modules out of your config and reboot the ipo.

how do i "make the IPO default"

ok... i set it as default... but no response from 192.168.42.1 that is the default IP right?

I also deleted the modules prior to default and that didn't fix it.. just can't get into the IPO now... to see if it will see the modules after reset

ok.. got into the IPO with default settings.. now the one random Analog 16 that was working with it, won't discover either.

So now all expansion modules don't discover... is there a reset in the module that needs done to work with a new Base 412?

Open monitor and unplug a module.
Do you see anyting happen.
Something with GODlink down must come by.

NO change in monitor, no modules reporting in manager.

When connecting to the DTE the modules give error : LEDTICK: SLIP Error #### ms

What is the reason why the ipo is dead ?

tlpeter, don't know what caused the failure.... one night system working... next am all trunk and expansion lights flickering... no boot lights...

I would take it apart and look at the circuit boards for scorch/black soot marks. That may help explain why they are all faulty not just the 412 :)

It sound like lighting strike.
Was there a thunder storm that night ?

Modules that once in a while work and mostly not sounds very bad to me.

I had such modules today on my desk.
DTE gave "tftp poll send" on my screen but nothing happens.
Flashing green light om the module but that was it.
I had one module very smelly like burned electronics.

Also an ip412 not booting at all.

DTE showed a nice startup but on a criticall point it just stopped.

tlpeter, there were storms... i suspect a POTs line got the base unit... but didn't expect the expansion modules to be hit too...

It couldn't have been power since we have a 20kw UPS on the power side... so it would have to have come in thru a POTS line.

Vendor is shipping refurbishmened modules to replace... we'll see if that resolves the issue.
