Looking for help from those that have implemented an XO IP Flex PRI with an IP406V2.

Our customer's IP406V2 is currently connected to a Verizon PRI and works fine. However, each time we try to switch to their new XO IP Flex service, the D channel will not stay up. Have replaced the T1 cross-over cable multiple times and get a green light on the circuit--just cannot make or receive calls.

We had an XO tech come out on our most recent attempt, and he was able to make calls on the circuit from his T-bird. Our system is configured like this, although we have tried most of the other iterations in the config, just for testing's sake (again, works with the current PRI):

PRI
NI2
Local Telco
1->23
Network
ESF
B8ZS
CPE
CSU checked (longhaul -7.5db)

Today will mark the 4th attempt at getting the circuit up and running, and the customer's patience is, of course, wearing thin.

run sysmon and turn on everything in the isdn tab. you can then make a call and capture the traps. post the traps.

It's people like you who generalize.

Why are you using a T1 cross-over cable and not a straight-through cable? Have you tried with just a straight-through?

Yes--we didn't get a signal on the straight-through.

Will collect the traps and post. Delayed the number port, so we could get to the bottom of this.

You would use a cross over if you connect to a cisco IAD or adtran box. A straight through if connected to the smart jack.

It's people like you who generalize.

You can also ask the XO guy if his layer 1 stays up.

It's people like you who generalize.

How far away is the Smartjack for the XO IP flex PRI from the IP Office? Can the carrier see a loopback with the PRI plugged into the IPO? Try the 22.5 db setting.

I see you have CSU longhaul checked and set for 7.5db. If I recall each 1db drop in signal strength represents a 50% signal loss. So a 7.5db loss is around 1% signal strength. You will get a green light if you see the incoming DS1 signal but this has nothing to do with whether or not the carrier sees your outbound signal. It could be that your transmit signal is too weak or is getting stepped all over by the transmit from the smartjack. Output from the smartjack is old T-Carrier rules not the HDSL rules that almost all T1s are brought in from the carrier on now. Technically the transmit and receive pairs leaving the smartjack should be separated by 50 pairs (or 25 pairs as long as they are in different helic allays) among a host of other rules that I no longer remember. Another option might be to bring the smartjack closer if it seems that distance is the issue.

Thanks, everyone, for your help. Here's what ended up working:

Checked CRC box.
Un-checked CSU box.
All other settings the same as above.

D-channel came right up after these changes.
