hello all, question I am getting feedback the ipo 400 licenses can only be installed on a 32 bit o/s. if so can it be a virtual machine then plug in the dongle and point it back to the vm? want to get a new server get ipo off very old server, and want to go virtual. Would actually like to install it on a 64 bit vm. I got feedback may have to install everything on 64 bit vm, then install licenses on a 32bit physical machine (yes I now the 400 is very old)

Feature Key Server PC
Only required if using a Parallel Port or USB Feature Key. Not applicable if using a Serial Port Feature
Key dongle.
• Windows 95 or higher.
• Windows NT4, 2000 or XP are strongly recommended as the Feature Key Server is then
able to install as a service, giving greater reliability.
• Windows 2000 or XP is required if using a USB Feature key.
• The server PC should be located in a secure area. The Feature Key device is fundamental to the
correct operation of many features, so a record of its location and serial number must be kept.
• Parallel Port Feature Key:
• A 25-pin Parallel port 1, set to bidirectional operation in the PC's BIOS.
• Bidirectional parallel port operation is the normal default on most PCs.
• WARNING: Do not connect a printer to the parallel port Feature Key dongle. Poorly wired
printer cables or printers that have not been earthed correctly can cause the parallel port
Feature Key to stop working.
• USB Feature Key:
• USB 1.1 or 2.0. Type A connector.
• IP Office 1.4 Admin suite or later.

I am sure that I have installed Key Server on a physical Windows 2012 64 bit server. I recall that I downloaded the Sentinel key drivers from their website rather than the older ones supplied with IPO.

If you use a VM there may be issues passing through to a USB, parallel or serial port.

@ipohead thats what I was thinking should be doable and regarding the usb pass through to the vm I had the same thought. I am going to go ahead and get the new server and test it, current setup ip office 400 v2 controller. ipo manager ver 7.0.26,
system status ver 5.0.26 and vm pro client ver 5.0.30 sitting on and old 2003 32bit physical server.

I got feedback the limitations is the voice mail pro and the dongle, for the ipo 400 v2 controller is designed for a 32 bit o/s only? If anything I can install that on a fresh machine.

Buy a IP 500v2 with a SD card and swap the licenses.
Better hardware and no modding around with virtual machines with unsupported OS and sloppy USB dongles.
The hours you spend in getting it kindof working costs more as the new (and much better) hardware.
