Hi all,

Has anyone else out there ever deployed IP Hard Phones using UNIX servers for DHCP and TFTP? If so are there any pitfalls that I should watch out for?

Thanks,

G

Should be no pitfalls, you just need to define the options in the DHCP server for the IP phones (TFTP, etc..)

The only real "pitfall" is the case sensitivity. The phone looks for capital letters when getting the script file. You will need to make a capitalized copy of the scripts on the unix tftp server.

I use Linux 7.1 and have no problems with both the DHCP and TFTP. The 3.X version of DHCP changes the option format significantly over 2.X. but works fine.

Avaya has a program available on the web-site called boottest that will verify the total install with the exception of the capitalization issue. James Middleton
