Setup a Call route to dial user's outbound calls to a POTs line. When calling from a VOIP handset the caller hears an echo. No Echo on recipent's end.

Unplugged IPO from POTs line and plugged Analog Phone into POTs line no Echo.
Routed Digital Handset out POts Line no Echo.

This happens on Local VOIP and VOIP over VPN.

Under lines>analog options. You can change the Impedence.
If this is an IP500, you can have it search for the best Impedence....
This is an inherent problem with pots lines and IP phones.

Indeed, this has been popping up regularly since I started using this site and no doubt before, a quick search should bring up many things for you to try :)

telecomtekperson: and if its an IPO 412?

Wow.. the vast knowledge that amriddle01 is contributing to the forum today is immeasurable!

If it comes from the vastness of my knowledge or not, it's the correct answer, you need to make those adjustments manually and see which ones work best, perhaps you would like a wrong but more entertaining answer :)

amriddle01: so that wasn't sarcasm... i apologize, I took your comment as saying it didn't magically fix itself on the 412 that you had to manually change it... rather you were saying that its a crap shoot and to try a impedance setting until you find one that works...

That is valuable info :)

Make sure the Network port on the 412 is set to 100Mb Half-Duplex and not on Auto.

I mean the switch port!

If there is no echoe on internal calls then it is not the port and analog lines I am afraid are always junk with IP sets. If you have a spare 500 put it on the lines and do the impedance testing then use these settings for the 412. Also measure the line properties and see that you get between 25 and 35 mA when offhook.
Good luck with it and maybe your customer wants to have some SIP lines instead they are way better with IP sets.

The issues only exist when the call is outbound on a Pots lines 2 and 3 (from comcast)from an IP handset.

No Echo on POTs line 1 (from verizon) from IP or Digital handsets.

No issues with internal calling (internal or over VPN) only issues when calls from a IP Handset go out of the POTs...

Check the line quality with a multi meter and compare it. It will probably be quite different from each other

we have seen this over and over with Comcast. i doubt you will ever get it working. The gateway they put in usually makes the lines out of spec. your doing multiple IP conversions on the lines and quality goes way down.

At the moment setting the impedance to 600 has resolved the echo.

Note changing to 600 on the impedance caused dropped calls changed to 900 and appears to be more stable.

I would suspect that the ATAs comcrap is using are junk. Get them to replace them with something that provides proper loop characteristics and works!
