Does anyone know if you can import an existing ip 500 config into an identical ip 500 system (same expansion modules)and will that config work the same on the new system? I know I would have to upgrade the new control unit, add the new licenses, then upgrade the expansion modules. Then I would like to import an existing (identical) config into that system. Would the 32 character key remain in the config or would it be overwritten with the key from the config I just put in it? I am trying to avoid having to build each config from scratch because I am using the exact same system over and over again.

Just export the things you need and import them in to the other ip500
No need to send the complete config in to the ip500
If you always use the same shortcodes then just import them

the license string is in the config, it then compares the license key number with the license string and if they don't match then your licenses are invalid, just overwrite it with the new license string and you are golden, but TLPETER is right you can also just export and import. Depends if you want to create some sort of template for identical stores or something in that way.

If these multiple systems are for an SCN network then don't have the same extns or groups in every config or it won't work.

You can have seriuos problems with that, at least in previuos versions you will have severe problems.
I advise you to export the configuration entities in binary format from one ipo and then import these in another system.
Be aware that if you export/import data that a lot of entries will be double in manager so remove these things you already have in the new IPO before exporting data.
