Hi i have been setting up a server it is a 440lxdp server p2 300zeon the problem is every time i try to install a service pack on nt4server greater than service pack 3 when the system reboots it crashes with a memory dump?system runs fine with sp3 installed its a 440lxdp board with 3com nic 128mb ram megaraid scsi 18gb with 2gb partion for nt .On the service packs that kill it it asks do you want to replace el90x.sys yes or no dont matter it still dies dont no if it is something to do with this file .Ithink it is a 3com nic card file?

The el90x file is for the 3com disk, but have never seen this to kill a patch.

I have seen where SP6 has killed an upgrade due to the new atapi.sys file that is installed. Beginning with SP4, the new atapi.sys would let NT recognize hard drives bigger than 8Gb.

On the majority of servers I have worked with, have had no problem. Unfortunately I am having same problem with a HP server that has 6-40Gb drives. If I use the new atapi.sys file, my system crashes. I can replace this file with the original and everything works, unfortunately, I am only allowed 8gb of hard drive space.

If you get an answer to your problem, let me know. Might fix mine.

Good luck.
