I have a customer trying to Install Phone Manager lite V 4.2 (39) on a two new PC's. They are Windows 7, 64 Bit.

I have asked customer to log on a s an Administrator, disable firewall, and AV and install software.

He says as he tries an error message pops up saying

'Error 1721. There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action: DWUS_Schedule.C3A146F5_4B48_11D5_A819_00B...'

Can anyone shed any light on this please.

What windows 7 is he installing it on?
Only Professional, and Ultimate are supported. Home edition isn't.

Hi Thank you for the post.

I have just phoned him. he said its a brand new PC. Running Professional?

I have googled the error and this has come up.

Installer ERROR 1721 is a serious Microsoft error that occurs when there is a malfunction with the Windows installation engine. The Windows installation engine is an important application responsible for the installation and removal of programs on your operating system. Is your computer displaying ERROR 1721 when you attempt to install or uninstall software using the Windows “Add or Remove program” feature? This error is usually an indication of registry corruption that stops Windows from executing important commands and software instruction. You must do a complete registry scan to immediately identify the problems associated with ERROR 1721 and prevent more damage to your operating system.

So think its more to do with the PC no the phone manager??

Sounds like you need to reinstall the Microsoft installer.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Ok thank you. will give this a try.

Thanks for the help folks.

You could try to turn off anitvirus and also turn off UAC.

isn't 4.2.39 before support for Vista was released?

Also 64 bit?

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

No, 4.2.40 is release a couple of months ago.

But only Windows 7 64bit is supported so you are close :)
It should work because support for Windows 7 is introduced in August 2006 and for both 32 or 64bit.

I have this exact same problem. Does anybody know the solution?

Well PhoneManager 2.1.16, which is going back a while, seems to work OK on Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I'm not sure why home versions of Windows aren't supported as although PCs in work enviroment would usually need the professional version, I can't recall that any of the extra features are needed for Avaya software.
