Information Store Can't be opened

Getting the following error for remote user, connects to exchange through VPN "Unable to open the folder. The information store could not be opened."

I can log in as that user on a PC here in-house and access mailbox just fine.
I had user create personal profile.
I had user delete mail setup in Outlook and recreate.
I had user create new Outlook profile.

Error still occurs.
 
exchange has IIS at its core.
If you are running with SSL required on default iis site on exchenge server, funny stuff can happen.
Only the exchange subfolder should have required SSL.

Hey, thanks for the idear. I checked it out and we're not using SSL, apparently.

Updated info., still same problem.
I made sure user had our mail server addresses and names in the hosts file.
I had the user log into another PC in the same location, connect through VPN and set up email account in Outlook with still the same error. So I ruled out sending the PC in for reinstallation.

Again, I CAN get into the user's mailbox by logging into a PC locally and opening mailbox. Other users on that site can get into their mailboxes through the VPN.
This user was able to connect just fine previously, through the same method. I am wondering if deleting the user and re-creating would create more problems in ADS?

Any other ideas would be much appreciated
 
alfiedude - when you setup the profile in outlook at the remote, add the servername and mailbox, and click on checkname, does it resolve automatically?

 
Yeah, that's the funny thing. It does check out the server and mailbox names. And the user can ping the mail server. But when they try to open the mailbox, the error comes up.
