Hello,

I'm trying to import contact data from a csv file into Outlook 97 and I'm having a problem with the way in which it's importing.

First question, when I import my data into Outlook 97, my heading/data in the excel file looks like this:

FullName Company Business Street etc....
Johnson, Joe ABC Company 123 street address
Smith, Sue DEF Company 345 Street address
etc.

When I import the data into Outlook, the name of the individual is not listed in the correct space "Full Name". Instead, the name is listed under a field labeled "File As" I want it to list the name so that when you look at the record, the name is listed in the "blue/grey bar" or where the members name is normally entered.

Also, how do I find out what the names of the headers are available for importing into Outlook?

Thank you..

When you reach the screen which says
The following actions will be performed
Import ???.csv into the contacts folder, you will see a button at the right hand side which says "map custom fields) you will then be given a list of the fields in your csv file and a list of the fields in your contacts list. You can drag fields from one list to another

Hi Elise,

Thanks. I did actually map to the correct fields, or at least I think I did, but it still does not put the persons name in the contact list in the right place.

I want it to list the contact name so that the name is in the "FULL NAME" field, but it only lists the name in the "File As" field.

Any ideas how to fix that?

You need to make sure that you drag the full name over to the other box so that it is mapped against the Name field in the contact folder. I have tried it and it works
